I arrived in Bali around midnight after a hefty flight from Manila. I had little idea about what to expect in Bali, but my idea was it would be super chill... So the airport was big and beautiful and chill, but once I got out of the airport anything but chill. The roads in Bali are total chaos both in terms of the network and how people get around. In short the roads make no sense so they just meander about... It was all good though because I had zero intention of driving. Scooters rule the road, similar to the Philippines, but in a more extreme way. Really great aspects about Bali were the cheap/wonderful accommodations, cheap/delish food/Bintangs and nice people. The villa I stayed in was I think the cheapest of the trip but probably also the nicest. The indoor outdoor bathroom was my favorite part. There was also a lovely pool that I took advantage of like most places.

Bali
Most of my stay in Bali was just for relaxing and eating and drinking and exploring the area where I stayed in Seminyak. There was plenty to do and not do in the area. Like most places sunset was a big part of the day where folks gather on the beach (which were not as nice as expected) for drinks often in cool beanbag chairs. I had a few big nights out and also met some nice folks to grab dinners and drinks with. There is definitely a significant population of westerners taking advantage of the cheap life in Bali, both living and working from there. I picked one main day to see the major sites around Bali. I hired a guy with a scooter to take me around. We visited 4 major sites (GWK Park, Uluwatu Temple, Tanah Lot, Taman Ayun Temple) around the city over 7-8 hours... Let me tell ya sitting on the back of a
scooter for 4-5 hours in crazy traffic can still be exhausting even if
you're not driving. Having a driver is the only way to go... I think it
cost me $40 for the day... Well worth it. 5 days in Bali was just about
right before starting my time in Australia.
